In the event of a vehicle breakdown during shift or transport:

Ensure Safety First:

• Pull off the roadway to a safe location if possible.

• Activate hazard (or emergency) lights and deploy safety triangles if needed.

Notify Communications:

• Contact Comm Center immediately with your location and a brief description of the issue.

• If transporting a patient, report patient status.

Stay With the Vehicle:

• Do not leave the vehicle unless directed to do so or safety requires it.

• Lock the vehicle if it must be temporarily unattended.

Wait for Instructions:

• Comm Center will coordinate assistance, a replacement unit, or a tow.

• Follow any additional instructions given by AOC or fleet staff.

Document the Incident:

• Complete a vehicle problem report as soon as practical.

• Include time, location, description of the issue, and any actions taken.
